If you love to crochet pop a little introduction here, let us know what you're working on and if you want to share photos you're more than welcome

Do you love to crochet?

Crochet was the first thing I got into when I realized I would have to go from lumber to fiber. Sewing came a close second, but I did have more success with crochet, in terms of noted projects and favorable feedback. I am working as I can to try to keep on with both crafts as I go through this disease, so I am glad you included this topic. Thank you!

you're welcome, I think a lot of people favour more than just one craft and where sewing needs a lot of equipment and space, crochet is easy to pick up and put down and take anywhere!

I crochet as well as sewing, probably in equal measure. My current project is the coral dreams cardy by Sceepjes but i am using Pebble Haze from Yarnsmiths which gives a nice variagated look but without all the colour changes needed in the original yarn suggestion.
The only thing with my crocheting is that i tend to start a summer garment in summer but don't finish it till winter and visa versa. Reaaly need to start my winter cardy now so it is ready for the colder weather.

Haha, yes I totally get that! I'll often start a big project for the season we are in and then it gets put down as the weather changes.
I know some people do work for the next season rather than the one we are in but I get inspired by the weather

Can we share WIPs and completed crochet projects here?

Yes absolutely! You can share them in this thread or start new threads within the Crafters Corner forum
I am a knitter but would love to be able to crochet too, any recomendations for books/youtubers that would be good for a beginner?

Bella Coco on YouTube is where I first learned to crochet.

I second Bello Coco - my daughter who's 7 learnt some basic crochet with the help of her grandma and Bella Coco

I would also recommend the pigeons nest she has great patterns including a beginners kit called nada to tada! She is on YouTube but not very often so best to check out her website or Instagram.

I love how crochet projects come together quickly but I struggle with sizing, many of the garments I've made are too big even after making a test swatch.

A glimpse at some of my crochet work since 2022. I am not very prolific, but I like and use the stuff I've made so far. You will see two dish towels capped so as to be hung from drawer handles, a blanket specifically figured to work with the size and motion of a hospital bed, an assortment of hot pads, an experimental wall pouch (because who doesn't need an easily accessible pouch hanging on their wall?), and a wheelchair-adapted poncho that I actually wear (a lot). Enjoy!

These all look great but I particularly love the poncho, so cosy!

It truly is. This one is acrylic, but I am planning on making another one at some point out of either wool or alpaca. I haven't decided which yet.

Also, please forgive my lapse in manners. Thank you very much for the compliment. It is good to know when something comes out well.

I love to crochet but don't do it very often but saw a lovely pattern while I was visiting friends and decided to crochet instead of knit for a change. This is made in a Sirdar cotton DK and is such an easy pattern, two rectangles, one stitch type in the main body.
Finished this top on Wednesday night at ThreadySetGo, just needed sewing together and for some sunshine for a photo!
Apologies for the background Allan insisted on getting his sweetcorn in the picture!

I love this Lesley, looks gorgeous! And I don't blame Alan, there's nothing quite like home grow sweetcorn eaten the day it's picked!

I'm a long time knitter but have only really started to get in to crochet in the last couple of years and I'm enjoying the challenge of learning something new.

Oh wow Helen these are beautiful!!! The blanket is just gorgeous. How did you learn?

Thank you Hayley 😁, I learnt to crochet granny squares when I was a child but never really took it up as a hobby until recently, I found YouTube is a great resource, WoolThreadPaint has really good granny squares tutorials and Attic24 has great photo tutorials on their blog for their blankets and I think somebody else has mentioned Bella Coco.
