Hi Hayley, I just wanted to say a few words about my experience with ThreadySetGo. Since joining last month, I have done a number of socials and I can defintiely say I am really enjoying it. At the beginning of the year, I made a resolution to put my 'big girl pants on' and try to meet some new people who shared my interest in sewing. This definitely took some guts for me but I'm glad I did it. It's nice to be part of such a friendly, knowledgeable group and the regular live events mean that I put some time aside each week/fortnight for my sewing. How much sewing I actually do whilst chatting remains questionable as I don't multitask very well but, it's a fun couple of hours all the same!

I am not a SHJ subscriber (yet!) but really appreciate being welcomed in to your community. I am in awe of the members that you have from across the world. You should be really proud of what you have achieved. There have been several sewists from the US and South Africa on the live events I have recently attended, as well as ladies from across the UK and Europe. It's also lovely that we are often joined by some of the YouTubers that I regularly watch. Ruan, Rachel, Tamlyn and Sam to name a few. I know they are just everyday sewists really, but it's a real treat to be able to chat with them in a relaxed environment.

I also wanted to say, I really liked the way that I had access to 2-3 live socials before I became a subcriber. This really helped me get over the nerves of my first event and approch future events in a more relaxed way. The price point of £5 for a basic subscription is also amazing. You have offered so much content for so little. Thank you!

Anyway, I've probably waffled enough. I really hope that TSG goes from strength to strength. You have clearly put masses of effort in to get it off the ground so you deserve it.
See you very soon, Laura

Oh Laura thank you so much for such a lovely message! I'm so touched you took the time to write that and to hear how much you have gotten out of the live events. It's been such a pleasure to get to know you as well all the other amazing people that join in, and extra special to see people coming back time and again. I agree as well how lovely it is that we have had members joining from around the world too!

Hi Hayley, I'm just having a proper look through the forum for the first time and thought I'd add to this post.

A bit of background. I've been suffering really badly with my mental health for about 10 years and have been working with the community mental health team for about the last year. At the end of last year I began work with a group who helped me with my anxiety around leaving the house, at one of my appointments at the beginning of the year it was agreed that I'd try joining groups around my hobbies. I have joined a general craft group, a knitting and crochet group and now. I have the sewing socials. My mental health has got a lot better since joining in with all these groups. I also have undiagnosed autism so find socialising difficult but feel very included in the sewing socials and appreciate the being allowed to just get on with my project but also being part of a group. I love listening to everyone else and what they're doing. Having a dedicated 2 hours means I can give all my attention to my sewing and preparing a project to sew. Thank you Hayley for setting up such an inclusive group.

Thank you so much for sharing that Sarah, I'm so happy to hear that you've found the groups to be so beneficial, and I'm really touched that we have been able to create something that helps people in this way.
I do like to try and include everyone in the conversation and give people the chance to participate but also understand that some people are equally happy to enjoy listening to the conversation whilst enjoying some sewing time.

I really love the forum and the socials. I'm autistic and struggle with talking to people, so going to in-person events has always been quite daunting and I've made up excuses not to go. The fact these socials are online makes it feel safer; I admit the first one, I assumed I'd just shut my laptop after 5 mins but ended up staying the whole 2 hours! Everyone is friendly, happy to give advice on a stage you're struggling with or just chat about the weather, fabric recommendations, pattern suggestions, and there are always dogs about!

Sewing can be quite a lonely hobby, it's not something any of my friends do, so having somewhere that I can talk to other like-minded people, but from the comfort of my own home, is a real help and has made me a better sewer.

Fresh off participating in another virual sewing social, I just want to express how much I enjoy being a part of this community.  As a US-based garment sewing enthusiast, I have struggled to find and connect with others who share my sewing obsession.

I have been very envious of the UK sewing community I see on social media and have often wished I could be a part of something similar ... and then, ThreadySetGo to the rescue!  It is so wonderful to spend two lovely hours chatting and laughing with folks who love the same thing I do.  Sewing can often be quite solitary and having the opportunity to actually connect with others has added such a new and fun dimension to one of my favorite things.

Thank you so much, Hayley - these sewing socials are a real gift!  I can't wait for the next one.

Hayley is an entrepeneurial sewing thrend setter. Like with her subscription boxes 9 years ago, Hayley has once more recognized a growing need that wasn't adequately being met in our Sewing Community; isoation. We all know our hobby can be solitary and sometimes a bit lonely. More so now than ever as many local towns, cities and fabric shops in the US and the UK are either closing or no longer provide in-person sewing socials. It's hard finding like-minded people in our own part of the world sometimes. So Hayley has gone global in reaching out.

This is where Hayley's new virtual platform, Thready Set Go, starts to shine and to bring us together.  Most likely, I will never meet these women in real life, but after just a few sessions, we're becoming friends. I really look forward to seeing familiar faces each week and happy when new ones join in. I love that we're getting comfortable enough with each other to open up and share about our sewing journeys and so much more. Having breakout groups after our initial greeting, keeps them more intimate and we can share as much or as little as we like.  I've met some absolutely wonderful, funny, positive, encouraging and oh so talented women. So a huge Thank you to Hayley for opening up my little sewing room to so many new friends.

Just want to say a huge thank you to Hayley for setting up these sewing socials and ThreadySetGo . It's so lovely to be with other sewists, albeit virtually, from the UK and all over the world, knowing they are all there for a chat, a laugh, advice, a confidence boost, it's all there in a dedicated time for all things sewing.
I've never joined in with sewing groups before, being quite shy and find it difficult to join in groups at first, but this is such a welcoming group, with regulars as well as newcomers. I feel like I've made a lot of new friends.

So thank you again Hayley for bringing us all together, and you never know, one day we may all be able to meet up!
