Recently I've lost heart in sewing but I know it helps me switch off from things. How do you get out of this rutt as I'm not sure what to do.

How about making something like a bag or not as demanding as a palette cleanser to get you back your sewjo?

I just got mine back. Made 2 memory bearss. Nice to concentrate on something small and similar as I've made a few before.

I'm sorry to hear that Catherine, it's always tricky when you loose your sewjo. Is there anything particular that made you feel this way? Sometimes a string of projects that didn't go well or fitting issues can put us in a slump

I don't know. I've made a few bit (garments) but never wear them as when I've done previously I've had a few negative comments so think it's confidence.

Think I'll try and make a simple fabric basket to use up some bits I have lying around.

Oh no Catherine I'm so sorry you had that happen, that's really upsetting. Sometimes as a beginner to sewing garments it takes some trial and error to figure out what styles we like and that suit us as well as the right fabrics to use. I would recommend sewing a pair of pyjama bottoms like the Tilly and the Buttons Jamie PJs - you get to practice your sewing, there's not much to worry about in terms of fitting and you can wear them with pride without fear of negative comments.

Obviously I want to say - wear whatever you want with pride and ignore the haters - but I know that is a lot easier said than done!

Secondly I'd perhaps try a sweatshirt - again Tilly and the Buttons are great for beginners and the Drew or Billie are great patterns to try with a sweatshirting fabric in a colour you know you love - the fabric is easy to work with and the patterns are fairly simple

I'm really sorry you've had some negative comments - that's obviously going to knock your confidence, but I hope you can rise above it and get back to sewing, which should bring you joy. Hayley has some great advice
