Re-purpose a long vintage skirt into a dress

Hello!

I recently purchased a long, vintace skirt at a local vintage shop. It is super long- I am able to put over my head and wear the waistband as a neckline, and it still falls below my knees. It has an invisible side zipper (9inch) with buttons. Any ideas or patterns to create armholes from the side seams and repupose it as a dress??

Thanks in advance,'Maria

Ooh this is such a great skirt, that fabric is amazing!! I love the idea of turning it into a dress... I'm not sure I'd cut armholes in the side seams though. My initial thought would be to carefully cut away the waistband, sew some elastic around the top so that the dress sits under your arms/above your bust. and then see if you can repurpose the waistband to make straps. If you want you could also sew a chanel at the waist for either elastic or a drawstring.
