Fun Fabric Fact: Cashmere and Tiny Stitches

Hi everyone, I wanted to share something interesting I came across while working on a recent piece. I learned that authentic cashmere comes from the soft undercoat of goats raised in cold, high-altitude areas like Mongolia and Nepal. It actually takes the wool from around four goats just to make a single sweater, which honestly blew my mind.

What really fascinated me was how sewing with cashmere is a whole different experience. The fabric is so soft and delicate that it needs smaller, more careful stitches to avoid damage. It definitely made me appreciate the level of craftsmanship that goes into working with it.

Have any of you ever sewn with cashmere or another tricky fabric? I’d love to hear your experiences.
