First pattern club done ✅🙌

Fresh off the sewing machine last night are my new Sew Liberated Chanterelle's - the first pattern club I have managed to complete!

I made the barrel leg version in a lightweight denim to ensure maximum wearability. I generally live in jeans and a t-shirt or jumper most of the time so I figured that making them out of denim was a good choice. I'm still getting used to the barrel legged silhouette but I think it could work well with trainers or boots for the autumn.

I fell into a size 16 on the pattern and I made a toile to see if I was happy with the style and fit. I felt my toile was too big and baggy. For my final pair, I sized down to a 14 but kept the crotch curve at a 16. I also slimmed the legs down just a fraction to reduce the barrel effect a touch. I am a pear shape with a 10" difference between waist and hip so this style was always going to be a sewing 'adventure' but overall I'm happy. I want to make another pair bit this time use the fly zip extension pack which I purchased at the same time.

Thanks for a great pattern club Haley, I'm looking forward to the party.

Whoop Whoop!!! These looks so great! Can't wait for the party next week... I definitely need to make some more if these, you've inspired me with the slimmed down leg too!

They look great! Love the idea to slim down the legs as well. I've also purchased the fly zip expansion and will be giving them a go as soon as my fabric gets here - do share when you've made your's and I'll do the same!

Hi Han, I'm in the process of finally making the HC Falconer pants at the moment to get more comfortable with the fly zip. I've never done one before and I found the instructions for the chantarelle fly zip a little wordy and confusing. Maybe I was just tired (highly possible!). However, I also wanted to get a better idea of pattern sizing before I invested the effort of the fly zip. I did have to size down on the elasticated waist version of my Chantarelles so this might be worth noting before you cut into your lovely fabric. I'd be really interested to know how you get on with your version (and sizing). Would you mind doing a post on here or on your insta grid?

Oh good tips. I did glance through the instructions and think it was long, but I'll have another look.

I'll definitely toile it I think before using my good fabric and I'll let you know how I get on!
