Magazine Subscription

Hi Everyone. Can anyone recommend a sewing magazine subscription? I have seen Love Sewing magazine and Simply Sewing but not sure which one would be best value for money relating to the content? Or are there any others I'm not aware of which may be worth considering? 🤔

Hi - personally I prefer Simply Sewing to Love Sewing - it's a little bit more modern I think, as are the patterns included. They are quite pricy now - I think over £11 for an issue so I would think about whether you are likely to make use of the patterns to justify the cost.

Another one to look at is digital magazines like The Pattern Pages

That's the thing, when I have had a look, im not sure I'd use the pattern. I'll take a look at pattern pages. Thanks 😀

oh thanks Hayley, I've just bought a couple of print copies of back issues for the Pattern Pages.

My resolution this year was to stop picking up magazines in the supermarket! They are getting so expensive. We do have a lovely Craft charity shop here and i got 5 copies of the Knitter mag for 50p each so guilt free really!

I really like the Burda Style magazines.   I follow Burda on YouTube where they show you what's coming out in the magazine and then if I want to buy that particular month I track it down, usually from a larger WHSmiths.

Hi, I read 'Simply Sewing' on-line for free using PressReader (free if you have a library card, which are also free).  Obviously you don't get the patterns or the gifts associated with a physical magazine - but you get all the other content. If there is then something you want to sew you can buy the physical mag.  FYI - You can access previous issues and I also read lots of other publications on PressReader including The Knitter, Simply Crochet and Simply Knitting.

Yes our local library does this, it's a great way to read them.

I think if you have an Apple News+ subscription there are a few magazines that you can view on there as well, not quite the same as a printed version but always easier than leaving the house 😀

Those 2 magazines are very similar in fact after having bought them for a long time I started to see repeats from one mag to the other. Having said that I personally prefer the format of love sewing. There is on offer on a sub at present 5 issues for £25, via practical  publishing
