My duvet dress!

I started this dress at the online social this morning and finished it this afternoon. Not too sure on the fabric which is an IKEA duvet cover, but this was a practice for making in a nicer fabric for a bit of a do in November. It's the Sewing Therapy Tie Dress. I made a size 4, even though I measure into size 6 bust, size 8 waist and size 10 hip! It is still roomy but not too bad.

This looks great, I think the fabric is really pretty but imagine will look gorgeous in the fabric you were showing us in the social!

Thank you Hayley. It does fit nicely, so the sizing seems to be OK. I can't edit the original post but my sizing is actually 8, 10, 12 bust, waist, hips, not as I posted, so I have gone down two sizes from bust size!

Thank you. I'm not normally a dress person, but I did like the look and simplicity of this one. I'll be making up my good version very soon, ready for the special event we are going to.

I've just ordered this pattern, I've got some chambray which might work for this, if I've got enough🤔

did you line the bodice , with the main fabric?

For the bodice lining you can use the same or different fabric. For this one I used the same fabric, but for my wool one I have bought some plain cotton in a toning colour for the lining. Also to prevent any itching, with it being wool (although it doesn't feel as if it will itch as it is a fine wool).

This looks great, I haven't come across this pattern before, are the ties in the side seams?

Thank you Jane. It is a bit difficult to see on this fabric, but the ties are attached into the seams of the front and back panels, so four ties altogether. Not quite a princess seam but similar. You can tie them at the sides or the front and back, or cross them however you want. This image will show it better. How much it pulls in depends on the size you make - some like it to be quite oversized then pulled in with the ties.
