Fitting Help Ideas?

Hello Friends, I made my first pair of fly zip trousers. It was the Coe trousers from Judy’s Daughter patterns. I am wondering about the fit right below the waste. There is some puckering and does not lay flat. I really don’t know much about fitting at all, and it’s my first try at pants. They were too big so I took side seams in, which messed up the waiste band. I am pleased I finished…

Hi, congrats on your first pants!! they look beautifully sewn!

From looking at the pictures I think they are much too high on your waist - you can see your natural waist n the portion directly under the waistband - think that's where they should be sitting. So this is a rise adjustment and it looks like you'd want to shorten the back and front rise.

So I would start by making a smaller size overall and shortening the rise at the front and back - this might mean you'll need a shorter zip
