Have you got your first project of 2025 cut out and ready to sew? Or are you planning what it will be?

What will be your first make of 2025?

My daughter is here until 5th January, relieving me of puppy duties ( he is living with us temporarily and rather unexpectedly). My aim is to sew as much as I possibly can from Saturday until then.
Hoping to start with a Nepheline blouse.

Ooh that looks beautiful! Good luck on your mission!

I've got The Makers Atilier lounge shirt cut out ready to go in the lovely black lawn fabric with white and beige dots that was in the luxury box a couple of months ago.
luckily it's a really baggy design because I stupidly didn't check the sizing, and I'm a size 24, they go up to 22, but it's a flippin small size 22 at that!
so many indie designers have a great size range now that I got complacent.

Oh no that's a pain, I haven't made anything from Maker Atelier before. Hope it works out ok!
I gave vouchers for a promise to make pyjamas to my husband and daughter this Christmas so I'll be making jammies in January

Aw that's a lovely idea, takes the pressure off in december a little bit!
First make for 2025 will be a kids hoodie for a birthday (2Jan)present. Thankfully birthday party is on 4 Jan...
Is it cut out, of course not, lol

eeek!! Luckily kids clothes don't take so long!

Who doesn't love a sewing deadline! 😂 Did you get the hoodie made up in time?
Yes!
Happy Sewing 🪡🧵
Yes, but it was close.

I have 2 drews cut out ready to go. One is a dress hack with the burgundy waves loop back french terry from November's box.
I have another 2 or 3 to cut out too.
I have just traced the lahja dressing gown pattern for the fabric godmother satin and the cloud jersey from previous boxes.
I'm halfway through tracing the Nell dress pattern. I'm going to use the black dobby that I bought from the outlet shop for the dress or blouse.

Oooh lots going on in your sewing room Kelly!!

🤞

These are lovely dresses!! I hope you'll share them with us when they are finished!

I love these🤩
These are a great choice & a good size range. I made a similar pattern to the Butterick, but a version McCall's. The front bodice & neckline on the butterick would have been so much better...

I will be finishing an off the shoulder velvet dress for my son's girlfriend. Then I think I will be attempting to make a shirt/blouse for my mother in law....no pressure!

Oh my goodness, those sound like some big projects! Hope you get to make something for yourself soon too
I have a quilt to sort out- I've already sewed it up, but the binding didn't catch properly in the odd place, so it 'failed' the test wash because the batting is peeking through at certain points. As a result, I need to fix this before sending it to the intended recipient!
Hope everyone is enjoying their New Year so far.

Oh no!! Hope it's an easy fix!

Waiting for fabric and pattern to arrive to make the Fleur blouse from Fabric Godmother. Pattern and voucher were Christmas presents. Also need to make a memory bear out of baby clothes.

I love the idea of a memory bear, so sweet! Look forward to seeing the Fleur blouse!
Just made this wearable toile/muslin for the Seamwork Greer dress. Lengthened it in 2 places as I'm v long in the torso, took some curve out of the bust and graded out at the hips. The Real One is going to be a vivid green. Excuse the wrinkly side seams, it needs a good press, but my husband (photographer!) was in a hurry!

Wow this looks amazing!!!

Wow, I love the style of this pattern. One for consideration.
Happy New Year!
It's my daughter's 4th birthday on Monday so I'm busy making her the Roslyn dress from Little Lizard King in a frozen brushed cotton. I'm hoping to have it finished by Saturday before her princess party on Sunday 😬😬😬
Bodice is done, sleeves are in, just the skirt now.

Oh this is so sweet, it's going to be so cute!

Knickers...that's my first make of 2025.
TATB Iris and it's been a sharp learning curve using folded elastic for the trims. Will try lace next time.

Amazing, great fabric choice too!

I've just finished my first attempt at a Tote bag - added the top flap to hide some horrendous stitching - but pleased it's done and can't wait to use it. I am just waiting for some brass press studs for the front closure.

Oh this looks so good!!! I love that quilted fabric on the front

Thank you. It's Faux leather that I quilted - came in a kit from Country Cow Designs Newquay.
My first make of the year finished. It's a Xmas table topper. I did want it done for last month, but will come in for this year. The trees are done using foundation paper piecing.

This is so beautiful!!!
Thank you ☺️. The pattern is by Joe June and Mae.

That looks wonderful!
Thank you ☺️

Great job! I'm not much of a quilter but admire others who make such beautiful projects.

I know we're in Feb now, but during my 1st sewing social I managed to almost complete an adorable puffed sleeved cardigan - a free pattern from Unfettered Patterns. It's my 1st make of 2025.

Instead of short sleeves that the pattern called for, I lengthened them. It's so cold in the northern part of New York at the moment. The fabric, surprisingly, is a super soft knit. It's not really a color I wear but had it in my stash. It was going to be my toile but I love the fabric now it's made up. I'm sure many of you can relate!

Rita this looks beautiful!!

Thank you so much Hayley! I had a lot of fun during yesterday's sewcial. I think people are getting more comfortable with one another with each additional session they attend. And to have 2 hours of sewing and commeraderie where no one in my house is allowed to ask me for anything is such a treat!

Aw thank you Rita, this is so lovely to read!! And yes it's been really lovely to see people getting to know each other better

Aww, thank you Haley! Hope you're having a great weekend. All finished with packing up our boxes? ;-)

Yep they have just this second left the building!

Looks lovely Rita 😊

Looks lovely Rita 😊

This looks beautiful Rita, looks like you'll be wearing it a lot😊

Thanks Leslie! That I will. It was lovely chating yesterday. Have a great weekend.

My first make of 2025 which I've been doing during the Wednesday socials. My partner Allan is delighted with his new shirt as you can see 😀

Ah this looks fab!! One very happy customer

Looks fantastic he is a lucky man. You can see a lot of love and attention to detail has gone into your make. The pattern matching is superb.👌

Thanks so much Val, must admit I wish he didn't like checks as much as he does😀

I'm with you on the checks, Val! My husband not ony loves them, he likes to choose patterns that aren't symetrical or the same throughout. So pattern matching is a nightmare. I don't let him pick out his own fabrics anymore, haha. Your partner looks so pleased! Great job.
