Eddy Cardigan Blazer Week 1 - share your fabric choice

I'm going to be sharing some prompts over the coming weeks, both here and on social media for you to share a little about the sewing journey to the coolest blazer you're ever going to make! ;-)

First up, share a snap of your fabric choice. Are you going for a denim, a twill, canvas, linen... or something else completely? And what about your lining? I can't wait to see your fabric pairings.

Very pretty fabric. I really like the color combination.

Would it be silly to make this in a stripe? I wonder about whether any darts or shaping might be a bit visually weird? (I've not downloaded the pattern yet, just having a look for fabric inspiration)

thanks!

I think it might depend on the stripe - if it was quite a narrow stripe I think the darts might blend in ok, if it's a wider stripe it would be noticeable, not that that's neccessarily a bad thing!

I've ordered a Chambray denim, waiting for it to arrive.

Love your fabric choice! I'm having a hard time finding a fabric. Hopefully I will find something I like soon.

I originally bought this mystery orange medium-weight fabric for a pencil skirt, but I ended up cutting out the Eddy blazer instead. It feels similar to a cotton drill. I had planned to use a printed fabric for the lining, but quickly realised the outer fabric isn’t completely opaque — the pattern shows through! So now I’m off to hunt for a plain lining in my stash. Since I already cut out the printed lining, I may just find some other fabric to make a second blazer

I'm going to give it a go with the black dobby cotton from (Oct??) last year, but going to see how well it holds a crease before I do any cutting out. I live in blazers during the summer but never made one myself and this seems like a perfect pattern to start x

Are you planning to use the black dobby for the lining? It will hold the crease really well, but it's too lightweight for the main. I've made a lovely shirt out of it and would be good for the lining

I'd forgotten how light weight it was, realised as soon as I got it out of my stash, definitely lends itself more to a shirt or blouse. Thankfully I had some black cotton canvas on order as a back up so hopefully that won't take too long to arrive
