Can I ask if anyone is making the Tilly top ? I have started mine but I am not feeling it , i down sized one size as i dont like the boxy style that's trendy but i am still not very excited by it .

Tilly and the buttons top

Hi,
I think I feel the same as you about the boxy style.
Also, I find a super lose style doesn't often suit me - I usually end up looking like a giant rectangle!
I will be making the top once the pattern arrives. However I think I will try something new (for me) e.g. recycle some fabric, mix some different fabrics together, add some embroidery...that way it won't bother me if it doesn't suit me as it is an "experiment" :)

Love these ideas!! Some embroidery would look beautiful, or patchword fabric together to make a larger piece of fabric

How about adding some ties in the side seams at your natural waist? You can draw it in then either in a bow at the back or make longer ties that cross over at the back and then tie in the front or side?

Gret idea i have cut some out 😊

I've just finished mine. I sized down one size but can easily size down again. I made the cropped version... I'm only 5 foot and I kept pattern length as was with no adjustments, it's still quite cropped on me but I really like it. I went for the short straight sleeve and used a drapey patterned fabric. I thought it was quite a simple style blouse but now it's finished as much as it's a little on the large side I really love it and can see more in my wardrobe.

That's great Emma, hope we get to see it soon!
I have the pattern already and will start next week, working on lyricall blouse by pattern emporium. I'm thinking I will did the longer version or cut in between the two . I think the crop might be too boxy but we will see.

Amazing, so excited to see what everyone does!

I'm the same not really into boxy styles, but I do a few because I have a large cup size so can avoid doing a fba with a more relaxed fit. I've found that going for a fabric with more drape gives a more flattering fit and think this pattern lends itself to trying a fabric with a bit more flow because of its simplicity, especially if you've already made one in cotton xxx

Absolutely, I've made one in a cotton as well as a drapey viscose and they look like two completely different different patterns. I love the way the viscose one drapes

Sorry, I know we are finished with the Samara, but have you tried it with a different fabric? I wasn't so inspired by the Samara either. But I down sized several sizes and used a soft lace fabric to make mine into a swimsuit coverup. I absolutely love it now. You could also lengthen it into a dress, then add ties into the side seams to bring in the waist area to make it more fitted. I guess you. could also try that with the top!
