Falconer Pants - Share Your Plans

Hi Hayley!
I made a start on mine yesterday. I am using a leopard print denim in the wide leg version.
I got a little stuck with the instructions with the last bit of top stitching before the bar tacks. But have now watched the tutorials and I think I have sussed it!

Ooooh I cannot wait to see a leopard print denim pair, where is the fabric from?
So pleased the tutorials helped

Thanks Hayley! I am struggling a bit with the fit at the moment, so I am glad I did only baste all the seams to check the fit.
I got this fabric from Rainbow Fabrics :)

Yes, I think basting has changed my life a little bit! What are the issues?

There just seems to be too much fabric around the waist and hip area and they look baggy around the bottom area. I think I need to take all the seams in a touch and that might resolve the issue.
The denim is on the heavier side too, so they are quite stiff looking. I am sure that doesnt help either.
I wonder if I need to shorten the rise? Not very experienced with fitting and would love to get a good fit with these as they are nice to sew!

they look great so far!! I see what you mean about them being a bit baggy. Definitely try taking in the seams and on your next pair you could try some alterations to the paper pattern.
Tilly and the buttons have a good post about common trouser adjustments

Fantastic, thank you for sharing that post Hayley! This is really useful :)
I am going to have a tinker with the seams over the weekend and see how that looks.
But I really like the pattern and pocket construction so defo want to get a nice fit for future pairs.

Keep us posted how it goes. Yes getting a pair of trousers just right is such an amazing feeling and definitely worth working on
Hello!
I am so excited to join in with the Falconer Pants sewing this month, I have this fab striped fabric and planning to make the wide leg version (I used Stash Hub Magic Mock up to see what it might look like) and look forward to seeing everyone else's versions as well as getting tips when sewing them ❤️

Oh they are going to look so cool! That fabric is amazing where did you get it from?
Thanks, it was from Simple Life fabrics in her closing down sale 😕

Oh no, another casualty of the current climate.
Hi, so I was planning to make the wide leg in a chambray but now I am reading the instructions I am not sure it is the right fabric. Any advice on this would be great as I just can't decide whether to go for it or order more fabric 😉

Chambray will be great, I know it says medium-heavier weight fabrics but after seeing a pair Helen had made in linen I did a pair in linen viscose blend which I love. Creates a floater style which really like
Thanks Hayley, I will go for it with the chambray, first pair of trousers for me 😱 the fear is real but watching your tutorials makes it seem doable.

You have got this Claire!! The zip is the most daunting part but just take it step by step with each instruction and you'll be amazed how it comes together

I have just purchased my pattern with the code and I'm now off to my local fabric shop that has an a0 printer, super excited about this pattern. Being a larger size I used to struggle getting patterns but now I'm stuck for choice with all these lovely independent pattern designers.
happy sewing you wonderful peeps.
Arry xx

Ooh so exciting, what fabric did you go for?

I am lucky enough to live near a wonderful place called Immanuel fabrics in Burnley, a short 20 min drive to a church (yes you read it right, its an actual church) that has been filled with lots of beautiful fabrics with some as little as a £1 mtr. Due to me getting into the swing of pattern work again i didnt want to spend a massive amount on fabric then ruin it by failing to cut the right size so i got some fabric that is hard to explain because it has the feel of cotton but the thickness of a stretch denim. The cost for 4 mtr was £8 so if i ruin it which im hoping i wont as i have now done a toile, it wont break the bank to replace. I have gotten as far as to cut it out and will post a photo of the finished project.

I have downloaded the pattern. I don't know if you heard, Joanne's in the US has closed their doors. I was going to buy my fabric there but unable to at this time. I'm going to look for a local store and purchase there.....really lost my sew jo for some time now...trying to get motivated again.. I do love this pattern. 😀

I'm sorry to hear you lost your sewjo. it happens to all of us at some point. I hope we can help motivate it back again.
Yes I did here about Joannes, hope you can find something in your local store

i have gotten as far as going to get the pattern printed, its still rolled up and i doubt i will unroll it until, A, I have gone to get more fabric and B finished the project i am doing, even though i soooooo want to start them I MUST NOT create unwanted w.i.p's lol

Ah I totally get that! I do have a few wips I'd love to get finished
Hi Hayley, I'm very excited to have just joined ThreadySetGo! I've just had my print outs of the Falconer Pants delivered and I'm hoping to make a start on them before Monday evening. I have a lovely neutral stone colour linen to use, as it's a slightly lighter weight I think I'm going to try the wide leg version.
This is all very new to me, I've put my name down for tomorrow morning's sewing session but as I'm not very techie we'll have to see how that goes!

Hi Diana, really lovely to have you here! Love the sound of your Falconer Pants!
The tech is usually fairly well behaved - if you have a laptop it's a little easier to access the controls. But you'll be emailed a link tomorrow morning to join the live event and that's all there is to it. Nothing to download at all
