September Pattern Club - Chanterelle Pants

Ok folks - what are we planning for the Chanterelle pants and shorts from Sew Liberated? Which view are you sewing? Are you hacking the pattern at all? What fabric will you use?

Hi there, I've just finished my first pair (barrel legged toile from Cotton/linen table cloth) and cut out my second. They are so comfy I decided they'd make perfect secret pj's, it may be a mistake but I'm making them in ponte roma 🫣🤣

First pattern club done ✅🙌

Fresh off the sewing machine last night are my new Sew Liberated Chanterelle's - the first pattern club I have managed to complete!

I made the barrel leg version in a lightweight denim to ensure maximum wearability. I generally live in jeans and a t-shirt or jumper most of the time so I figured that making them out of denim was a good choice. I'm still getting used to the barrel legged silhouette but I think it could work well with trainers or boots for the autumn.

I fell into a size 16 on the pattern and I made a toile to see if I was happy with the style and fit. I felt my toile was too big and baggy. For my final pair, I sized down to a 14 but kept the crotch curve at a 16. I also slimmed the legs down just a fraction to reduce the barrel effect a touch. I am a pear shape with a 10" difference between waist and hip so this style was always going to be a sewing 'adventure' but overall I'm happy. I want to make another pair bit this time use the fly zip extension pack which I purchased at the same time.

P.s. excuse the state of my lawn. Cutting the grass is next on my list!

These look so great Laura! The shape looks really nice, I like the slightly slimmed down shape of the legs and the fabric works really well - where did you get it from?

Laura I never would have noticed the grass!!!

Thanks Haley. I got the fabric from a destash some time ago I'm afraid. I forgot to say, I added an inch to the leg as I am 5ft 6 and the pattern is drafted for 5ft 5. My toile was with the orignal length leg but kept catching on the top of my boots and rucking up.

I think these could also work with heels for a dressier look. Not that I often wear heels these days but...
