What are everyones favourite jeans patterns? I've sewn one pair of actual jeans (not including the Helen's Closet Falconer Pants) which weren't a huge success.
So I'd love to know if you have sewn jeans before which ones have worked well for you?

Mine are the Just My Luck jeans by Izzie (formerly Forest & Thread). I have 3 pairs and denim for 2 more. I love a barrel leg and also their measurements are mine to within 1cm so no alterations needed. Susie
Oooh I haven't heard of this company, always love discovering new ones!
I haven't sewn that many jeans before, but I do love both pair of my Closet Core Morgan jeans. I sewed the Fibre Mood Clover Jeans for the first time this past year and love them too. I want to sew the Megan Nielsen Ash jeans. I have the pattern and the fabric. I just need to get started with this project.
Perhaps a project for the new year?! The Morgan jeans look so good, I haven't seen the Clover ones though!
I've only made one pair of jeans, the Megan Nielsen Ash Jeans, which are in a stretch denim. They are a bit snug, but they are supposed to have negative ease. I think I would just take less seam allowance next time, rather than going up a size, as I think that may be too big. I made the narrow leg (not skinny) but will probably try the wide leg next time. My sewing machine didn't like the topstitching thread so I just used a contrast colour sew-all thread.

These look fantastic Diane! Shame your machine struggled with topstitching thread, did you keep your universal needle or swap to a denim? I think you can get topstitching needles too which have a bigger hole for the thicker thread.
Thank you Hayley. I was using a denim needle for the fabric, and swapped to a topstich needle for the topstitch thread, but it was making a funny noise so I just tried the denim needle but it still seemed a bit strange so I just used the normal Gutermann thread with the denim needle and all worked fine.
I have made the Jamie Jeans by Named which were the first pair of jeans I made. I loved the front pocket construction. They were a skinny style with a seam up the front. Then I made a few pairs of the Closet Core Ginger Jeans and they have had lots of wear over the years, again a skinny jean and still being worn. I made a straight pair of the Megan Nielsen Dawn Jeans in rigid denim - again these get worn often. I have also made the Heroine jeans by Merchant and Mills which have a slim fit through the waist and hips with straight legs. The most recent pair I made were the Roans by Emporia Patterns which are barrel legged. I was unsure about these initially as they seemed quite wide but they have grown on me and I really like them now.
I like sewng jeans as denim is stable to sew with, and would say don't be intimidated just work through the process a step at a time. The only adjustments I tend to have to do is sometimes grading between hips/waist (pear shaped) or removing a wedge at the waist and altering the length by an inch or two
Oh wow you've made loads Ali! Would you say you have a favourite out of these? Which instructions did you find easiest to follow?
Having never made jeans before I'm intrigued to see what everyone has sewn. Jeans will be on my makes list for 2026.
