Plus Size Patterns

Hello Everyone

I thought it might be good to have a thread where people can post their favourite plus size/size inclusive companies/patterns or even patterns they want to try!

Here's a list of the companies I've tried and would recommend:

  • Friday Pattern Company (I love all their patterns!)
  • Tilly and the Buttons
  • Helen's Closet
  • Merchant and Mills

Great idea! I agree with all of these - my only slight niggle with Friday Pattern Company is that there is no crossover between their two size bands - so my bust falls at the top end of the smaller band and then my hips are at the lower end of their bigger band. Fine for seperates but a bit of a head scratcher for dresses!

Experimental Space have a good size range too

Cashmerette I hear are brilliant! They have several cup size pieces on each pattern. I have my eye on the upton dress as it has so many options. Sarah from superbaillessews has made some amazing versions. She's my go to you tuber for plus size pattern reviews!

Cashmerette are great I've also been a club memento since it started.  They also have a size calculator so you know what size to sew 😁

I'm new here, so hope it's helpful to revive an older thread. Thanks for those suggestions. I do think that one problem with plus size patterns is that, even more than smaller sewers, weight & size distribution is variable. Some are drafted more for big busts than big bums etc. etc. Here are my favourites:

Cashmerette indeed, although I find some patterns over-complicated. Jenny make things clear and displays the clothes both beautifully and realistically.

Ready to Sew have gorgeous clothes that drape well on me.

Muna and Broad are quite eccentric! They don't use models. Their leggings are quite brilliant, work better than any others for me, and I have made their oversize shirts in linen for summer.

Folkwear are not specifically for plus size women, but the kind of patterns they have are very adaptable, and beautiful. I used their Pioneer dress pattern for my maternity smocks (and my youngest child is 40 next month!)

Most of the patterns in Tauko are sized for larger people, and are adapatable. The magazine is available from The Fold Line

Defnitely love a revive of an older thread and these are some great suggestions - I haven't delved much into Ready To Sew but wow they have some beautiful patterns there!!
