Hello All!
Can anyone tell me why my neckband is doing this? It is a pattern piece and I haven't altered the neckline at all. Suggestions gratefully received!

I feel that your pattern piece is too long . I double check the length of my pattren pieces when i make a new t shirt pattern. I usually measure the neck opening on the fabric along the seam allowance by using my measuring tape in its side so it curves around . I hope you can picture what i am saying . Half this measurement ,then multipy this measurement by 0.8 (to get 80%) add the seam allowance to give you the length the pattern piece should be . Even if it is only a cm shorter than the pattern piece supplied with the pattern , you'll be amazed at the differnce it makes . Also a really good steaming with your iron helps too

Oh thank for that. I have another one cut out so I will try doing that before I take this one apart. I'll post how it goes in case anyone else has a similar question.
I did watch some you tube as well but everyone doing it perfectly didn't help me!!

It's so crazy how jerseys can act totally differently to each other!
I have a YouTube video on this where I take a slightly more trial and error approach then Andreas lovely mathematical one!

Great advice ladies, thank you. It makes sense that the band will behave differently depending on how stretchy the jersey is, now that has registered in my brain I will be more careful next time and measure first and use the pattern piece as a guide.
