I hope you don’t mind me joining your group. I want to simply ask where does one start with dressmaking? I have been quilting for about a year and really enjoyed it, and I have attempted in the past some very simple patterns, summer trousers or tunic, but never had confidence to try something more. Where do I start? Online course? it feels overwhelming. How did you start?

What sort of thing would interest you the most in making? A gathered skirt for summer, a jersey top that you'll get a lot of wear out of, a simple woven top or dress?
I always think Tilly and the Buttons is a really good place to start for beginner friendly sewing patterns that hold your hand and teach you all the techniques. She has some good pattern books as well that come with the patterns and would be good to work through.
