Suggestions For A Few Days In The Uk - 14/15/16 May

Hello Folks.
I will be in the UK for business week of 11 May and will be free on Thursday, Friday and Saturday before I go to Norway for the next weeks business.

Any suggestions on places that are sewing related (shopping, classes, socials with supplies etc) are appreciated?

I would definitely email Tamlyn about her Sew Toon socials to find out if there's one running on those dates. I don't think they are equipped but I'm sure they could accommodate.

I would recommend a trip to Guthrie and Ghani for shopping - I don't think there are any classes running on those dates unfortunately.

I don't know of any retreats taking place, but hopefully our lovely community will be able to give some other suggestions

Melissa, I don't know how well you know the UK and its traffic, but I would be wary of driving too far - trips that take a few hours in other countries can be long-winded here. I think you would have a happier time if you stuck to Scotland, especially as you can get some lovely fabric there.

I called in to the Edinburgh Fabric Shop a few years ago, where you can get Harris Tweed etc. but I wonder if you posted a request about Scotland, you might get better local knowledge.

I'd also think about a trip to the Dundee branch of the V&A.

I will be staying in Dundee and have the V and A on my list of to see. I will take you up on your suggestion to repost and ask about Scotland specifically. Appreciate the feedback!

One of our members @kathy_sews is just starting off her own in person social groups in Edinburgh and she has a social on the Sunday afternoon...

I am close by and would have been happy to take you around some Edinburgh fabric shops but unfortunately I'm away those days. We do have a sewing social in Edinburgh but not till the 17th, when I guess you're in Norway.
