When stay stitching a curved edge to stabilize it - should the stitch length be longer or shorter?

I would normally say shorter, as you have to navigate the curve, and the longer each stitch is, the less accurate the turn. My Janome Atlier 7 actually has a 'curve' stitch and it is shorter.

Having said that, it does depend on your fabric, the curve and other factors, so I assess each situation.
