"I Hayley pledge to finish one project plus work on another"

I will be finishing my Styla Patterns Abingdon dress that has been half sewn and then left to one side - I'm not even sure why I was really excited about it. I cut it out in November 2023 using the Like A Zebra viscose from Fabric Godmother that was in the Luxury Boxes.

I am then going to crack on with my Love You Sew patterns Spring Roll pouch that was cut out of fat quarter in Spring 2023 - they were in the Meet Me In Paris box!

I, GammaYin, pledge to work on:

1) my skirt [McCall's M7475] and complete it, if possible.

2) my sister's Japanese panel quilt if I have finished the skirt.

Hello!  Once I complete this skirt - do I put it on, photo it and then post it on this site?

Hi Lynn, wow sounds like you've been working hard to get the fit right. If you're comfortable we would love to see the finished skirt. But there's no pressure to do so!

So as of Tuesday, March 4, I have traced the pattern, cut the toile, marked the toile.  Next I need to go to JoAnn's to get notions - then baste/sew the toile and try it on.  Hope to have it done soon . . . it is taking longer than I thought.  After fitting and adjustments, the toile pattern pieces will have strips of oceany-blue fabrics sewn on top to create a striped effect with the toile as a lining and then the pattern pieces will be sewn together, hemmed and finished.

I, Lucy, pledge to finish the Heather blazer.

I started this project as part of the Sew Confident CCC course but I really hate the linen fabric they supplied. It's really stretchy which I wasn't expecting for a linen. But I'm more experienced now so hopefully i can pick it back up again 💪

"I Hayley pledge to finish my Saskia cardigan and Tina skirt project.   I also pledge to attempt to finish my laptop bag - it's a bit of a fight under my machine as it's getting really bulky now.  Fingers crossed 🤞

Hehe, great pledge Hayley!! Have you got a thicker/denim needle for the laptop bag?

Nikki's avatar

I'm just using a normal needle - it's been fine until attaching the front to the gusset - just tricky with bulk and corners etc

just got the back to add now - so nearly there 🤞

The Tina skirt has ended up in "file 13" - really didn't suit me - having sewing nightmares and so abandoned in favour of other projects.

I'm not doing very well with my WIP challenge 😂.  I've cut out a replacement piece for my liberty top (thankfully found a piece hiding in my stash - very happy).  Then I've cut out a skirt in my classic box paisley fabric, and started cutting out a sagebrush top in a pretty viscose.  (In my defence 😂 I have access to a decent table to cut out which is easier than at home).  I have also taken a jersey top that I chopped up because it was too big and the neck wasn't right and nearly made a camisole with it - which is a win 😀😀😀

I, Vicki, pledge to work on my Thea trousers and get further than just tracing out the pattern!

I've picked up the pattern and fabric so many times to work on it and then put it down again out of fear, but I'm going to take the plunge. I'm (foolishly?) not going to toile.....

I'm going straight for what will hopefully be a wearable toile, but before I cut out the fabric will compare the curve of the front and back pieces to the Flint trousers which I know fit me well!

This is a great pledge Vicki, and a really good idea to compare the curves to a pattern you know fits well

Thanks for the tip! I am a bit worried they will be too big, but I've got as far as adding the fly zip and they seem ok so far. Hopefully the waistband won't change it too much 🤞🏻

They are, however, miles too long! I don't usually have to change the length on Tilly's patterns but these are so long I think I'll be chopping a good few inches off the bottom!

I, Lesley, pledge to finish my Taylor trousers by Blackbird fabrics.
I promised myself I would hand stitch the hems, but because of this I've just put them to one side, but they deserve an invisible hem.

I will FINALLY finish my Closet Core Jenna Shirt - which means to make bias binding with my scraps, bind the hem, then do button holes and sew up the buttons (Which could be a ncie activity for the WIP and Sip evening!

I also have a matching Bestie Bag in progress, so it would be a bonus if I finished that too, or at least make a bit more progress on it

I have a drew sweatshirt that I started. Then decided I did not like the colour ribbing I was going to use, kept forgetting to add ribbing to an order. Ordered it last week to finish for the challenge this week. It is due tomorrow. I also have a pair of joggers cut but waiting for said ribbing before I sew it up. Plus I need to cut the fabric for my first bestie bag. Pattern was printed and cut ready two weeks ago.

Pretty much all of it, I'd only got as far as cutting out a few of the fabrics for it. I'm not very good at doing the same project over and over again so I've been putting it off, but my husband asked me to make one for his Mum for her birthday.

I, Sandra pledge to finish 3 projects. First, my New Look 6107 blouse, which has been waiting 2 years for buttons... Second, my first Friday Pattern Co avenir jumpsuit -  I planned to wear at Christmas but didn't like the fit so didn't finish it... Third Style Arc Miley Top - I have made this since with adjustments & love it.  My original Miley is too tight on the arms, I added a strip to make the sleeves wider but it was still to tight at the cuff.  So I have unpicked the sleeves again and plan to make the ruffle shorter and seams narrower...

Thanks Hayley for this WIP challenge, it's made me realise I have quite a few & choose which to focus on.

I have completed one of my WIP challenges. I made my husband a shirt, but made a rookie error by sewing the sleeves on the wrong armhole last summer....it's now had the arms removed and swapped over (only taken me 8 months to pluck up the courage!)

I Radiance pledge to finish my Mood Sewciety Trillium shorts and make progress on my yellow shift dress (New Look 6500). I experimented with diagonal pin tucks on this dress and may have messed up the bust darts as a result. I'll finish it to see if it can be salvaged.
