Winter Of Care And Repair

I was listening to the Check Your Thread podcast this week and Zoe was interviewing Jeanna who has created a seasonal challenge called The Winter Of Care and Repair which runs between Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox, and focuses on taking care of one’s belongings, self, community or relationships.

I absolutely love this idea of using this period to mend, repair, fix some of those things that have been building up - not just clothing but other items around the house, decorating tasks you've been meaning to do, self care, care in the community and relationships.

You can read more about it here thepeoplesmending.substack.com/p/what-is-winter-of-care-and-repair

Is this something you might take part in? What would you add to your plan?

Here are my plans -

- Paint the bathroom ceiling - we had it replastered a while ago and just haven't got around to painting it!

- Go through my pile of jeans that have worn in the inside leg and see if they can be repaired.... then repair them!

- Re-hem my Sew House 7 Tea House top that I made 8 years ago. It's been a mending pile for ages and all it needs is to be re-hemmed

- One of my Emily dresses from S.O Sew dressmaking that I made for the pattern club needs a fix - unfortunately the viscose twill has pulled in some places around the bodice causing white streaks. I have managed to pull some of them back but there is one that won't shift. I want to tackle that agian.

- Care for self - I will be 40 in less than 2 years and increasingly conscious of needing to work on my health, so planning to dive into that a little bit more, specifically eating habits and incorporating more weights into my routine.
