We finished this morning's sew social 3 hours ago and I've been reflecting on how powerful/restorative/helpful/energising/inspiring/welcoming/positive these sessions are.
Tomorrow, work beckons and it's time to tidy the sewing room and get ready for the real world and, as I tidy, I have found scraps and threads and trimmings that have reminded me how much I have achieved this month by sewing in community. I would have sewed without the socials, that's true, but 'my stuff' tends to be the thing that always falls off the daily list... Having the socials on my calendar gave me a reason to prioritise my sewing, my stuff, and I'm grateful to and for them.
If you haven't joined one of the live events yet, do give them a try. There's no pressure to do anything other than show up. You don't even have to sew - we've had sewing machine repairs, knitting, fabric discussions, crochet, pattern cutting and more - going on in the background. Nobody has to speak - but everyone can.
If your family, like mine, back away with glazed eyes if you try to talk to them about sewing or how challenging it is to wrangle a particularly length of viscose or how you hate doing buttonholes, do think about joining us! I have found my 'tribe' here and you might too!
