I have known for a while that I need to destash some patterns that I bought in the early days of sewing and now know I’ll never make. I have made a start, having listed 3 on a Facebook destash group. I’ll add more over the weekend.

I haven’t previously considered destashing fabric, but again, some of my early fabric purchases were mistakes, so I’m going to sort through it and lose that too.

Anyone else, de-stashing?

I had a destash last year. I took several patterns and fabric to my sewing group and what was left I took to a swap at a sewing retreat I attended. It was great to get things I didn't want out of my sewing room.

Great idea I always feel so much better after a sort out

I've just donated lots of fabric to Remade in Worcester. I've also sorted fabric and threads to go to the textile department at my granddaughter's school. Still a lot to go but I feel so much better for having it out of the house.

It may be coming.

I've de-stashed fabric twice before. Each time I gave the full garbage bag to my husband (I don't have FaceBook or Craigslist). I let him list them for free with whatever description he felt was appropriate.

Each time I thought they would hang around and instead they disappeared within 24 hours.

Yet I'm still hesitating this time because I'm not certain anybody will want them.

I managed to bin most of my large scraps today and I have sold a pattern 💪 It’s a start. I haven’t found any fabric (beyond scraps) that I can bear to destash because I either love them, or they will work for practice garments. It’s a start.

I do put some fabrics on my Sewing Socials I host (not very often) but I am going to have a clear out and put some on Vinted, I have two big bags of clothes to list so will add the fabric too - wish me luck :)

I have done a fabric swap, and given fabric to a local college for its textiles course. I do want to organise myself to go through all my fabric and do a proper fabric destash. I think it will be hard to do as Im so attach to so much of it! 😁

Me too. I tried, but I love the fabric I buy! It hasn’t gone well. I will just have to ‘sew up a storm’ to reduce it 🤣 Aside from getting rid of the large scraps, I sold one pattern, then couldn’t find it so I had to send the money back 🤷‍♀️. Then today, I gave a two metre piece (the only one I could part with) to a sewing friend at a IRL Sewing Group. That is my destash 😳

😁Hilarious! I'll probably end up getting lost in it all and not be found for days! 😂

I agree with you. I was able to sell a few items at a yardsale that is annual here in the USA. The US12 sale is every year the 2nd weekend in August. I made up ziplock bags of like fabrics. What didn't sell, I donated to the Girl Scouts for projects. I need to try that with some of my me-mades that I no longer wear. I have had some luck with this in the past also.
