Trying out a coverlocker

Hello, I am starting a new thread after my requests below, many thanks for advice & help.

I have now found out that Babylock HQ is only 30 minutes drive from me, and I have an appointment to try out the machines.

I have money set aside to buy the Ovation because of the manual speed control However I am (naturally!) uncertain about using all this money on a complicated machine.

The main use is making my own clothes. I will be looking at hems, especially on knits & fine fabrics, seam finishes, sewing elastic (I make knickers, which I love!). I am taking along a bag of fabric / elastic to try out.

I would be very grateful for any advice & suggestions.

Oooh this is very exciting! I think booking an appointment to roadtest the machine first is really important!

What a beautiful looking machine, I'll be really interested to hear how the test goes

Thanks, I am very unsure, and I have to decide if this is worth it for me. Will it help me to do the seams and hems more easily, or will it complicate things?

Although I am able to get out and about and be reasonably active, I can't go on the longer walks that I used to, and sewing has taken over as my main pastime.

I will let yu know how it goes. I also have to say that I am delighted to be able to try out the machine - it was arranged by my local dealer, D&J at Kettering.

A huge thank you to Mike at Babylock.

He spent 2 hours with me at Babylock HQ, showing me the machine and allowing me time to try out all my 'badly behaved' fabrics, overlocking, hemming, adding lace & elastic etc. etc. I did decide on the Ovation. And a bonus whilst waiting to pay, we had a cup of tea in the Aviator pub - a place I used to go in my teenage years, to watch the planes!

I managed to get it set up once I got home, but no have 2 days of family commitments before I get to use it in earnest. Very many thanks for everyone who helped me make this decision.
