Overlocker issues!

Hi, I have an Elna 664 overlocker and find that when I sew a jersey garment just on the overlocker the seams have a tendency to pop. What setting do I need to be adjusting?? Thank you 😊

Hi Katie, oh no that's a pain. Has it always done that or just a new thing?

No it's been doing it for a while... I reverted to just sewing the seams on the sewing machine but I've decided that's silly so need to try and work out what's going on?

Hmm... might be worth finding somewhere to service it and see what's going on?

It sounds like your needle thread tension is too high, loosen them up by 1/4 incraments and see if that fixes it.  Overlockers tend to be set at 4 out of the factory then slowly change over time.  After 6 years I got 4 4 3.5 4.5 without ever changing thread brands (I use moon overlocker), which is fine, if you find yourself at 6 2 5 1 on a woven then something is shot.
