Stretch Poppy!

After sharing my plans to make a stretchy Poppy in the sewcial I finally made a start!!

Unfortunately in black (notoriously impossible to photograph). I toiled in woven in a new size (which will also become a dress... The blue African wax) so I knew what I was working with, and then sewed it up taking approx 2 inches off the sides of each front panel. I cut the back panel on the fold so I took a little more off the back panel sides just to account for the seam allowance.

A couple of tweaks to make but super happy with it as a starting point!

Poppy swimsuit here I come!

Ooh yes the stretch one I’m very excited to see how it goes! It really would make such a great swimsuit pattern.

I was going to turn it into a dress but I had less black jersey than I thought, so I've made a little top - I lengthened the front panel by 2 inches. I'm thinking I may make a two piece from swim - I have a beautiful liberty swim fabric.....

Oooh my gosh Laura this is looking so good!! Is it lined with the same fabric? Did you find taking 2 inches off the sides enough? Was it 2" overall or 2" from each side making 4" overall?

This looks absolutely fab, what a great idea. A perfect bra friendly vest top. Can I just ask if it is a supportive enough without a bra in the jersey fabric? Im an average cup size (c). Thanks from one laura to another!
