Have you sewn a swimming costume before? Full swimsuit, bikini or tankini - if you have a pattern you love let us know.

Photos of makes always welcome but only if comfortable - otherwise share the pattern company, pattern name and what you loved about it.

I've made the Cottesloe by Megan Nielsen three times. It has pattern pieces for a one piece or two piece costume.

I have enough leftover fabric to make a two piece.

Thank you - I did struggle a bit with the rubber elastic at first. It was probably because I hadn't sewn elastic much before.

Last year, I made a bathing suit I absolutely love. I feel cute in it, I feel confident and it’s really comfortable. The top is the Marblehead Tankini by Cashmerette and the bottoms are the Clearwater by Love Notions.

Oh my, swim is my heart sewing so I have so many I love but for those looking to get started in swim I recommend Jalie wholeheartedly. If you’ve done some swim and want to step up your game, use underwear/lingerie patterns to broaden your options. And if you’re ready to make your swim dreams come true, I HIGHLY recommend drafting your own from Pattern School Online with Stuart Anderson, the best stretch pattern maker I’ve ever learned from! I’ll have to dig up pics but swim is my absolute favorite thing to sew so trust me when I say I’ve made countless suits and it is SO rewarding!

I followed the step by step instructions on Sew Over It Stitch School and made my first bikini, the Zahra bikini 👙, first photo. Then I made the bikini top from the Megan Nielsen Cottesloe pattern, which is great if you want to go swimming and not just sunbathing, second photo. I have also made a Cottesloe one piece swimsuit which I love, third photo. It looks more straight in my photo than in the pattern line drawing because I made a size 16 but graded out to a size 18 at the waist. I used I don't know how many needles to attach the clear elastic, but it worked. I love to wear these when going to the beach, or rather to the cliffs since we don't have many beaches where I live (west coast of Sweden). I am so glad I discovered your YouTube channel. The video about the swimsuit sewing is great and it had a link to this fantastic forum. Thanks so much!

Yes the one piece swimsuit is my favourite. It is one of the few one piece swimsuits that actually fits me. Also, the fabric with smiling whales makes me happy!

Hej Anna.
