Friday Pattern Company Canyon Dress

I finished this on Saturday night in time for a family dinner on Sunday. It is the Friday Pattern Company Canyon dress made In a Euro Viscose from the Dahlia Society which I’ve had since before Christmas.

I love this dress and will definitely make more but there are a few improvements I need to make.

  1. I shortened the sleeves but really I didn’t need to.

  2. I’ve made a little bit of a mess with the placket

  3. I need to raise the V just a tad so that I don’t need to wear a camisole

But overall, it’s very wearable and I love it.

It looks lovely Irene. I too am a Canyon fan!

Yes, the sleeves aren't overly long are they!

I think everyone struggles with the placket. On my last make I actually stitched the underplacket on first so I didn't have to worry about where it was when top stitching the top placket down. It was really fiddly to do, but I think it gave a better result!

I found that if, when stitching that V shaped notch to join the two plackets, I went back in and sewed a simple straight seam for another inch from the top of that V, it gave me the modesty height I needed on placket.

This is beautiful Irene, you look so happy in it!

Plackets are really fiddly, but it looks great from here, the benefit of a busy print!
