I started sewing a couple of years ago, now into my third year of this wonderful hobby.
I’ve been a bit ‘Gung Ho’ and had a go at pretty much anything. I’ve made a full tailored coat, jackets, shirts, a jump suit and a full office capsule wardrobe but not a t-shirt. I’ve always been a little nervous about sewing in a neck band and not being able to get it right to satisfy the perfectionist side of me so have until today not tried.
On a social last week I was talking to Hayley and said that I wanted a to have a go at a t-shirt and that I needed to ‘grow a pair’ and make one. So I did, as I promised I had a t-shirt cut out for this mornings social and I made a T-shirt. I then made 2 more.
I made the Itch to Stitch Kashi Tee (cream), the Helen’s Closet Jackson Tee (green) and the My Handmade Wardrobe Mix it up Tee (need to go down a size).
I’m not sure why I let the worry of not being able to get a neck band right limit my usual ‘have a go anyway’ attitude but I’m so pleased that I have now faced that head on.
The bonus of having such a support group of sewists around me on those calls has been brilliant so thank you ladies for allowing me to use you to make myself accountable to have a go!
