2 sewing room projects finished and photographed. Whoop whoop!
I am trying desperately to work through my summer fabrics stash so this is my latest make, the Pattern Emporium Free Spirit Skirt.
I bought this viscose from A&M fabrics for an event last year but it turned out to be very different in colour to the way it photographed - more durgey which isn't ideal. So I made it into a wearable toile of this skirt, in order to see what I felt about the pattern. I'm still not convinced on the 'durginess' but, oh my, that swish!
I only had 3m of this fabric which is sightly less than the pattern calls for. I reduced the skirt length to the short version of the maxi and cut the waistband at 90 degrees to squeeze it out. I also lowered the split but in hindsight I think I did that too much. I'll raise it a little next time.... because there will be a next time.
The pattern instructions were fine but, as with all PE instructions, really overwhelmingly long - even for an elasticated skirt! I hope in the future Kate does a cut down version at the front or back. As good as her instructions are, I find I miss things because I zone out with all the variations she presents.
