These are the shorts version of Simplicity 8056, an Amazing Fit pattern with a curvy option, which I used.

The fabric is a very loose weave polyester linen type which frayed and shifted and didn't press well.

These are really a wearable toille and I can see the back crotch needs adjusting and the front too possibly.

It was quite an involved make with a fly front, faced pockets, 4 piece waistband etc. I will wear them and see how I feel about them but I think you can guess my feelings from my facial expression in the photo!!

Incidentally, I wouldn't wear my top tucked in normally. That was just to show the waistband!

I think they look good, and they do look like they will settle well after a few wears and a wash. I do know what you mean about the amount of work you feel is worthwhile for some garments.

I hate zips. Also my body shape is such that it is almost never worth my while doing a fly front. I use good waistband elastic and never tuck my top in. I do have 1 lovely pair of trousers where I did the best fly front I have ever managed. When I put them on, I know that neat waistband is there, but no-one else does!

Faced pockets though, are always lovely!

Shorts look really good Glenda! I would cut out the curve of the back crotch about 1/4" (6mm) at a time. I mean chalk a line, then sew, then trim and press then try on. The back section of the crotch needs to be lower. Ill attach a sketch.

Sometimes I put in a fake fly. Just add the fly guard to the front seam and topstitch. Looks good and easy peazy. I have the "advantage" of having a waist 2" smaller than hips. The coveted potato body. So all my pants can be pull on, essentially.

Thank you, that is what I usually do but the alteration on these obviously wasn't quite enough. I'll alter the pattern to reflect this.

Still a good looking toile. I really struggle with pants but have been working on it.
