Helens Closet Lawrence Dress

I've just finished making this dress.

I was a bit hesitant as it's a lot of fabric but I loved the double Gauze one that Helen wears on the pattern pics.

It needed 4.6 meters and the only fabric I had that was anywhere close to that was this lurex viscose from fabric obsession.

I only had 4 meters but that was the perfect amount.

I love thus dress and have been swishing around in it all afternoon.

I think I'll try and get a gold belt to go with it.

I made a size 10 and I lowered the bust dart by 1/2 inch but made no other mods.

I used some tweezers to remove the lurex threads from the facing as I didn't want them scratching my skin.

It took 7 hours to sew in total over 3 days. There is a lot of gathering.

The lurex threads in this one makes it nice and sparkly but it feels more occasion wear rather than day to day. I now need to buy some double Gauze to make another everyday version.
