Tilly And The Buttons Mabel

I am currently working on a Tilly and the Buttons Mabel in this gorgeous viscose that was gifted to me from Lamazi Fabrics

I’ve just done the shirring on the bodice, now onto the sleeves whilst the machine is set up

Day 2 progress report! I’m filming as I go for tutorials and YouTube so it’s slow going!

Front bodice, peplum, back bodice and sleeves are now ready to be attached to each other. So far a smooth process.

That’s looks amazing, the shirring (?! Not sure if that’s the right term) looks really nice, I’d like to have a go at that at some point.

Finished this a few weeks ago but finally got Andy to take some fancy photos for me! We headed into Beaulieu (pronounced Byoolee) in the New Forest.

I loved sewing this - such a satisfying make with lots of lovely details like the shirring and elastic around the neckline and shoulders, a little tie detail at the front too and of course I love the sleeves!

I cut a 7 at the bust and graded to a 9 at the waist. I also lengthened the peplum by 2" which I would lengthen even further next time as prefer blouses to finish around crotch level. I still love this and will wear it loads.

I need to create a little thread loop with button at the shoulders to wrap around my bra straps as it does want to slide off a little.

The instructions as always were very easy to follow, the only fiddly bit is where you attach the sleeves to the bodice.

The fabric was a dream to work with, not so floaty that made it tricky to cut.

All in all - a successful project!

Looking forward to the video tutorial as I bought the pattern but haven’t made it yet. Interested to see how you lengthen it as I would like to make it longer too. Your blouse turned out beautiful & looks really good on you ❤️

Thank you, lengthening the peplum is super simple because it is just a rectangle of fabric with the shirring at the top. So I just added 2” to the bottom of the rectangle.

The video tutorials using this fabric are technique based and available for Plus members of ThreadySetGo - one is on how to transfer pattern markings. The other is how to sew shirring
