As we are coming towards the end of Me Made May I have been reflecting on how it went, and identified some gaps in my wardrobe.
I have 100% worn me made every single day - I am so happy that I think my wardrobe is around 80% me made and I have loved wearing everything.
We have seen every weather (except perhaps snow) this month which has been incredibly helpful for analysing the wardrobe. I am really great at the in-between season stuff - when it is warm and dry enough not to need a coat but not as hot as it has been this week.
This week has been tough - and I definitely need a few things in my wardrobe that I can float about in when I have to leave the house and actually put clothes on.
First more wide leg floaty trousers in solid colours - in very lightweight fabrics, with a flat front and elastic in the back such as the Pietra's or Magic Pants (although because there is 4 layers of fabric across my stomach thanks to the stretch panel and sailor flap they were too hot in 30 degrees)
Secondly - more strappy tops and dresses. I always make things with sleeves to cover my arms but when we are mid-heatwave all of that goes out the window and I cannot stand my arms being covered! I think as I near my 40s I might be reaching that era of "who gives a damn?!"
My 8 year old has been floating about in a Chalk and Notch Mini Marcel dress in double gauze and I have been very jealous!! In this heat the less fabric touching me the better.
I also need some jersey vest/tank tops - I have a couple of RTW ones that are well and truly on their last legs.
Finally some kind of shorts to wear at home. I might have reached my "who gives a damn" era but my legs will most likely remain in maxi's and trousers out of the house. But in the house I've been wearing anti-chafe shorts which serve the purpose but I'd like something that looks a little nicer or in some fun fabric to just wear around the house.
Then when we head into autumn winter I will definitely need to start making some more jumpers/sweatshirts as mine are all a little past their best now!
All in all, it's been a really great month - I did wear the Silversaga dress out in a town to take the photos but it's either been too cold and wet or too hot to wear it to the petrol station!!! so unfortunately it so far has remained in the wardrobe.
