Cinnamon Daisy Poppy

Well, after six fitting muslins, I made a Cinnamon Daisy Poppy top...and it doesn't fit centre front 😔

Oh well, I'll probably sew a tuck and cover it with a bow or something.

The straps are too far out - my fault really as I narrowed them down due to fabric shortage but didn't adjust their positioning on the bodice.

Tbh, I can't see myself wearing this very often anyway as it's rarely warm enough here and, well, confidence stuff (I like it from the front but the back less so ...but then again I'll never see the back 😂)

Looks much better without a bra underneath.

I'm a tad frustrated to have put in so much work for something that doesn't make my heart sing but in all fairness, I knew that this design would be labour-intensive (as zero ease wovens tend to be).

Oh no I'm so sorry this hasn't quite panned out the way you were expecting! The dress I made I absolutely love but it doesn't quite fit right to wear without a bra, and then like you my bra straps ended up showing. BUT... it looks fabulous with a fitted t-shirt underneath and I've worn it loads!

I can understand your frustration and you've probably lost all love for the project now, but it does look really beautiful, the fabric is gorgeous too

Thanks Hayley,

I was reflecting on this and realised that it's a challenging project on several levels in that a zero ease woven is always going to require several muslins. But in my case, this in turn led to too much close analysis of my body shape.

Tbh, I don't think the style is suited to my body - something I hadn't really considered bc I can usually sew things that I feel work well for my shape. Perhaps there would be a way to make this work...I suspect sturdier fabric would help but the back of the garment is what I find problematic on me so I'm not sure if that would solve anything.

Anyways, I'm moving on and chalking this one up to a learning experience!

Some projects just aren't meant to be - glad to hear you're turning it into a learning experience and moving onto something else now, what's on the list?

Sometimes that's the best thing. What annoys me these days is that sometimes I forget the lessons learned........!

And that fabric will make a gorgeous facing or binding on another project.
