Dont want it to feel heavy on your head Materials and supplies: 2 contrasting fabrics. Dont need alot of them Polyester filling Can use small fabric scraps Big hair clips Cardboard paper to draw petals on Marker Scissors Pinking shears chop sticks/knitting needles Tweezer Needles Thread Steps 1. Iron fabric 2. Create the petals: Put fabric right sides together. Free-hand draw 5 petals. If making the petals uniform, then draw 1 petal and trace it over the fabric. Trace out the center circle on the contrasting fabric. Stitching: Stitch petal all on the outside, keeping the bottom open to turn it over and to stuff it. Cutting: Cut each petal into rectangles. Then using the pinking shears, cut out the petals. Be sure not to cut through the stitches Turn petals right side out using chop sticks/knitting needles Iron petals Stuff petals with filling 3. Making the circle centre Trace out the center circle on the contrasting fabric using the same method as the petals. Can free-hand draw it or make a template Stitch the circles all around, keeping a small section open to turn right side out. Will need alot of pivots. take your time. Use small stitch length to make pivoting easier. Cutting: Cut each circle into rectangles. Then using the pinking shears, cut out the circles. Be sure not to cut through the stitches Turn circles right side out using chop sticks/knitting needles Iron circles Stuff circles with filling Turn right side out. 4. Hand stitching everything together Tuck in open ends of petals and circles. Hand stitch using whipstitch, ladder stitch or the sewing machine. Position petals and circles to decide on layout and which will the top and the bottom of the flower. Sew petal onto the centre one at a time. 5. Sewing the clips on Can make a loop for the clip to hook onto or haphazardly sew the clip onto the back of the circle.
