Tilly and the Buttons Mabel

About this make

I loved sewing this - such a satisfying make with lots of lovely details like the shirring and elastic around the neckline and shoulders, a little tie detail at the front too and of course I love the sleeves! I cut a 7 at the bust and graded to a 9 at the waist. I also lengthened the peplum by 2" which I would lengthen even further next time as prefer blouses to finish around crotch level. I still love this and will wear it loads. I need to create a little thread loop with button at the shoulders to wrap around my bra straps as it does want to slide off a little. The instructions as always were very easy to follow, the only fiddly bit is where you attach the sleeves to the bodice. The fabric, from Lamazi, was a dream to work with, not so floaty that made it tricky to cut. All in all - a successful project!

The bodice is all constructed now - attaching the sleeves to the neckline was a little fiddly because the raw edges are set at an angle to each other rather than lining them up! But it's done and the elastic neckline and ties have been inserted into the casing - all that's left to do now is attach the peplum to the bodice and hem!

Project cut out and started on the shirring - I absolutely love sewing shirring but I'm glad there's only 5 rows to do on the front and back bodice as it does start to get a bit tedious after a while!
