About this make

Cleverly constructed trouser pattern that has a secret stretch panel concealed under a sailor style flap which is held in place by straps that come through from the back waist and fastened with poppers through D rings

    The elastic that gets attached to the straps and comes through from the back waistband was far too long - I ended up chopping it right down to about 2inches! I also decided to top stitch the back waist facing down as it was wanting to flip up. Especially with the bunching caused by pulling the straps through

    Finishing the raw edges of the pocket was a little fiddly, you don’t want to catch in the stretch panel and need to be careful the overlocker blade doesn’t catch anything it should! I missed a small section of the fabric right in the corners

    The instructions tell you that once you’ve finished constructing the front to hold them up and walk around the house feeling smug… so I did

    When sewing the D-ring holders into the sailor flap I forgot to reset the machine needle which I had moved over to the left for edge-stitching. Because the strap needs to be super secure I backstitched over it - which made unpicking a bit of a nightmare

    I love that the insides of the waist facings have twill tape to help stop the fabric from stretching over time - especially good for the linen I’m using which has a tendency to grow
