Silversaga Eleonara Dress

Finished

About this make

I have mixed feelings about this dress, it took me 2 years to finish and was originally meant to be an ode to Bridgerton, which I think it is! I love the majority of the dress, especially the fit, but the sleeves are so enormous, especially in this cotton that I feel a bit self-conscious in it! The cotton poplin is beautiful, from Roo-tid and a joy to work with. The neckline was fiddly as you had to press in a large curve to make an elastic channel which created tucks and puckers. Once the elastic was in though it wasn’t noticeable

Final stages today - attaching the skirt to the bodice and then hemming! easy peasy!

Today I inserted the ties with elastic into the casing - wow this makes so much difference to how the dress looks, it is suddenly coming together!

The dress is coming together really nicely now I've picked it back up again - I think I did all the hardest bits two years ago! The sleeves have now been attached - they are enormous!! and I have sewn the very narrow fabric tubes ready to stitch to the elastic!

Picked this out of the WIP box of doom to finish off - I had all the pieces cut but for some reason had 3 sleeves - I think perhaps I'd cut one the wrong way due to cutting on the flat! I had already sewn the shirring and folded over the elastic casing at the neckline - that was a huge mission to do and impossible to do neatly as you are folding in a big curve! A few swear words were uttered!
