Hi I have zip phobia. I want to get to grips with using zips. So far I have avoided making anything that needs a zip.

I would welcome any tips on making the task easier. Thank you X 😀

I interface the seam that the zipper is being inserted into. This makes the fabric behave better.

Hi Jiya - there is a video tutorial in the Poppy series on how to insert an invisible zip and I have another method planned as well.

I interface the edges of the fabric first. I also find that hand tacking the zip before sewing on the machine stops it from moving

Another idea to stop the zip shifting is to use 1/4" quilters tape. That is sticky both sides so you can place your zip and rearrange so it is correct. The tape washes out.

I've used that for really fine fabrics before tacking the zip.

I followed Lucy from sew essential invisible zip tutorial. Basting the zip is with the extra time 😊
