Favourite Online Fabric Shops

I use AmoThreads, a deadstock fabric site. It's always got useful information about the fabric (weight, width, composition, whats it's best suited for), lots of photos, and customer reviews. It offers 2 free samples, although I've always just risked it. I've not been disappointed yet.

However, because it's deadstock fabric, they don't always have what I want in. For my latest project I've ordered samples from Dalston Mill Fabrics, for 95p each. They're a new one for me so I can't judge them just yet, but their range looks promising.

I always use online shops as apart from Boyes, I don't have any close by. These are my fave:

Another vote for Bornella and Sew Much More.

Also would add Lamazi (fabulously quick despatch times) and Guthrie & Ghani (particularly like their sewing society kits) and Good Fabric (the owner went over and above when Royal Mail didn't bother to process a parcel). Pattern, Paper Scissors also carry an excellent selection of quality fabrics.

My favourite fabric shops are,

Textile Express. They stock a wide range of dressmaking and soft furnishing fabrics. They are very friendly and helpful. They also do quirky videos and tips on their instagram. I have managed to visit their store its an Aladdins cave of fabric!

I also like to support online stockists in my area,

Lamazi Fabrics Fabric Godmother and Clothkits.

Other online stockists I buy from are Sew Much Moor and Beyond The Pink Door

So far I have only purched fabric online from Pound Fabric, but have been impressed with the fabric that I have received.

The only disadvantage was that their Jersey fabric did not show stretch percentage.

You can't beat a trip to Walthamstow Market, there's a shop there that sells a metre of fabric for £1 - I don't know how they earn a living. I also like BeyondthePinkDoor and Pound Fabrics

Being in the US, 99% of my fabric purchases are online. It's hard to trust an online store, but over the past 4 years I've focused on shops that also have weekly fabric roundup videos where the new arrivals are described, discussed and they show the drape, or even outfits made up in some of the fabrics. To me, this is hugely helpful. My favorite and trusted UK fabric shops (who also happen to have great shipping rates to the US) are:

In the USA I really only shop from 2 shops:

Stylemaker Fabrics. They carry many fabrics from Lady McElroy, Atelier Jupe, Meet Milk, and other European sources.

Mood Fabrics: I turn to Mood when I need some basics or I need something to be delivered more quickly.

In Canada I only shop from Core Fabrics, the fabric side of Closet Core Patterns.

I use Minerva (im a craft club member) and i loooove their big sewing fabric folder so i get to feel the samples before purchasing. I also use my sewing box and 1st for fabrics.

In the US, I have had good luck with Cali Fabrics for deadstock and Nick of Time Textiles. From the UK of course have only tried Beyond the Pink Door sewscription box.

Canadian here. I order from Core fabrics, Riverside fabrics, G.K. fashion fabrics, and recently from Stitch Happens. I’ve had excellent experience with all of them. I have also ordered from Minerva, and directly from Lady McElroy but the duty fees were killer!
