I mostly have my PDF patterns printed, but now that I am fully retired I wanted to start printing at home. I have done this in the past but its been a while.
I ordered the Pattern Emporium On Repeat Woven T-shirt; so versatile and plenty style options to see me happily work through my stash. However, I just couldn't get the right fit, managed to tweak here and there so all of my attempts are wearable but I wasn't happy, my facings were never the right size and I could not see why, so I went back to the instructions. (I say back to the instructions, but I tend not to start there ... if it just a back, front and facings, what can go wrong, right?) I thought maybe I could just print my size, just in case I was going off kilter somewhere, but in order to do that I had to download Adobe Reader. And that was it! I had been printing from the web, just as the pattern comes, and although the test square was right, some other scaling was going on which completely skewed the pattern pieces. I reprinted, the tiles all met up beautifully and I have another one cut ready to sew up tomorrow with a clear head and fresh start. But a lesson learned, and hopefully anyone else just starting their journey will take heed! I can see me reprinting all of my patterns now so I'm in for a busy winter!!
