Oddest Garment I've Made

I normally sew for myself, having had a couple of really awful experiences when asked to sew something (a chiffon dressing table cover springs to mind). But when my friend told me the cost of a skirt to wear while she rode her horse side-saddle, I leapt in and offered to make one! Luckily she had a 'practice' skirt which I borrowed to make a toile. It's a very strange garment, having no back to the skirt and a weird massive curved side.

Here she is wearing the lovely skirt (jacket model's own!). It was a challenge, but one I enjoyed.

What's the strangest thing you've sewn?

Well done Kay - It's loved finding out about this odd garment from you in the socials and couldn't believe how much they cost! This looks fantastic, I'm sure your friend is very happy with it.

Strangest thing I've sewn... I went to a fancy dress party where the theme was Heros and Villains. My friends and I decided to go as a box of Cadbury's Hero's - I made us all capes out of a purple stretch something... it was shiny! and we stitched empty wrappers all over them! This was 2013

Those outfits are gorgeous.....and also, not the usual dressmaking fare! Love that you used Cadbury purple ❤️

Hi Alison, thank you so much. It was a labour of love and I'm so pleased my friend likes it. I'm hoping to see her compete in it soon 🤞

I once made a jacket from an ikea bag lined with 2 plastic mailing bags! It was for a junk fashion show for my daughter.
