I have been looking at the brother 3000 air threader.  I have the juki overlock and love it but threading it is a nightmare . I'm thinking of buying one for myself for Mother's Day .

You won't regret it. I love mine. It really is as good as the more expensive ones, I've no regrets. I got mine from Sew essentials and they even showed me how to use it. Lucy is great .

I recently treated myself to a Bernina 570 QE which is absolutely heavenly to sew with. So smooth and it as though they have thought of all the potential problems users might encounter and resolved them before they occur. I particularly like the "jumbo" thread bobbins and the integrated walking foot - ingenious!

I'm thinking of buying the Bernina 570QE but wonder what you get for the extra cost. I have a Bernetta B38 and it has auto cut, easy threader and fairly moveable foot for thick materials. Probably not the best for that job though. It also has a needle I can adjust to either side by small increments.
