For an event we had end August, I wanted to sew en Hayley dress from Sew Over It. This was the plan. And then, there was the reality.
Mid June, i cut a blue voile fabric I had in my stash to sew a (hopefully) wearable toile.
Begin July, my mother was taken to the hospital for almost 3 weeks. After that, she had to go in a nursing home. This was a stressful and very active period. In the meantime, we had to face two or three heat waves.
I manage to sew my blue Hayley (with French seams and pockets) and finished it by the end of July. Everything was almost ok (I could have made a greater size). And then I ironed it. The back lining get stuck to the back and when I separated them, the fabric tore. I thought I could put some ribbon to hide it but...
When I try it again, the fabric tore at another place.
As it was a toile, it was sad but not a disaster. I also learned a lot while sewing it. You can see it here.
So, I went to sew my final Hayley with a terracotta viscose from my stash in a bigger size. I had a lot of administrative work with my mother's house and was very tired (fibromyalgy and chronic diseases were very active). Anyway, I found some time to sew. I sewed linings on the wrong side but who would see it when I wear it and everything was ok. I cut into the fabri while cutting my last thread from the hem. But I could mend it and it had a lovely dress. We had another heat wave. As it was a sleeveless dress, it was perfect.
I had some time left before THE weekend and I needed sewing therapy. I cut a Montrose top from Cashmerette with another floral voile (viscose/lurex) from my stash.
The weekend arrived and the heat wave was gone. It was even cold ! Too cold to wear a sleeveless dress !

Next week, I took back my toile for Montrose. And everything went well. I don't have a toile ! I have a Montrose top ! It was perfect for a party we had next friday.
This was totally unexpected. And it felt good after my Hayley adventures.
There will be other Montrose tops. I will probably do a full tummy adjustment. But this one works well a highwaisted pants.
NB : Hayley is a great and easy pattern and I will surely made another one for the next Summer.
