An alternative method for marking a dart on your fabric is to cut up one of the dart legs and then fold it out of the way along the other dart leg. Then take your chalk or a marking pen and we're gonna draw along these dart legs. If you want to, you can use a ruler or you can freehand it.
So I've got a ruler and I've got my chalk and I'm just going to draw along the dart legs. So now you can see you've got a nice clear marking.
Not only is that really useful for showing you where to fold,] that is also going to give you a guideline along which to sew as well.
The only thing that you need to remember to do with this is to flip it over and do the same on the other side. So that's where it's a little bit more fiddly than the tailors tack version, which gives you the marking on both sides in one go. But honestly, both of them are pretty easy and aren't going to take you too much time.
