Hello I'm Annette from North Lincolnshire, I've been sewing for a few years to varying degrees of success. Really pleased to have found this forum as I find sewing quite solitary as not many of my friends are crafty. The other thing I've found recently is sewing podcasts on you tube, so if anyone has any recommendations
Introductions

Hi Annette, yes, that's exactly what I want this space to be about! So pleased you're here! Ooh I haven't checked out podcasts on youtube - who have you been watching?

Hi Wendy, lovely to have you here!
Hi, I'm Bev from north Wales. I'm glad to see some fellow introverts on here. Not confident enough to post on instagram (although I have tried). Love receiving my SHJ box each month and hoping to reduce my fabric stash in 2025 by actually making some clothes.
The Yorkshire sew girl and sew like dotty so far

Hi Bev, so happy to have you here and hope you find this a safe space. So pleased you are loving your boxes!

Lots of new members the last few days, come and introduce yourself!
Where in the world are you?
What will your first make of the year be?

Hello All
I'm Theresa, and I live in West Yorkshire. I used to see as a child (even had a plastic workable machine). Fast forward 40 years, my grandson was born last year, and I picked up sewing in September again. I have found such a passion for sewing garments. My next goal is to learn how to grade and alter patterns to ensure a good fit.

Oh wow Theresa that's so exciting that you've found a passion for it!
Hi everyone, I'm Trudy from Tamworth (Staffs) looking forward to lotsa sewing chat on these forums! X

Hi Trudy, so happy to have you here!
Hi everyone, I'm Mel. Known as bubbly duck generally on my socials. I'm a crafter in general, scrapbooking, beading (jewellery and embroidery, aka bead weaving)
I started sewing about 18 months ago and made my first wearable garments roughly 9 months ago. On and off I have been a shj subscriber over the past 12 months

Hi Mel, welcome to the fold!! sounds like you have a few crafty strings to your bow!
Hi everyone, I'm Karyn from sunny Bournemouth in dorset. My mum was a fabulous sewer so grew up watching her and sewing along but in the last few years it has spiralled a bit like my stash 😂😂. Sewing has become stress busting for me lately as well. I have 4 children and love knitting and cross stitch too. I absolutely love getting my classic box it's like a birthday every month, and I like the surprise and challenge of how to use the fabric. I also am quite a solitary sewer no-one i know sews, so getting to know like minded people is wonderful.

Hi Karyn, welcome along! so lovely to have the skill passed down to you. So happy you're here, have you booked onto one of our sewing socials to get to meet more lovely sewists?
I've booked onto your 1st sewing social tomorrow, looking forward to it.

Amazing, can't wait to see you there!
Me too 😬 A little bit nervous but looking forward to it too.
Have we had the link yet to join the live event tonight?

About 5-10 mins before the event an email will go out with a link directly to the event, but it will also be accessible via the main events calendar page five minutes before it starts when the button on it will change to a "Join" link for everyone who is booked in 😊

Hello everyone. My name is Lelan, and I live in Wisconsin. As might be guessed by my username and profile pic, I am a quadriplegic doing what I can to continue to find ways to keep sewing accessible to me and improve my skills. My interest in these pursuits is not limited to being for my own benefit, nor is it limited to just sewing. Musical instruments, various visual arts, tinkering (like vintage sewing machine repairs, and learning foreign languages - if it can be done by able-bodied people and it makes sense that disabled people might also want to take a crack at developing genuine skill, then I am all about helping them figure out what is/ is not possible and what is/ is not necessary in order for them to meet their goals. Speaking of meeting, I am glad to have found this venue and I look forward to meeting many cool fellow sewists.
