Introductions
Well hello everyone, I'm so excited for this!! So... I'm Hayley and I run Thready Set Go and SewHayleyJane from my lovely studio on the edge of the New Forest in Hampshire, south of the UK along with my husband Andy and with a little help from 6 year old Mia!
Hi Hayley. Happy Sunday. I have a question about potentially allowing us to sell/swap fabrics and haberdashery items with members in this group. Is this something you've thought of or considered? I'm sure we all have items in our stash that no longer bring us joy, but might to someone else in your exclusive group. Just a thought. Hope to hear your reply.

Rita
Hi Rita, yes this is a feature we are working on! Hoping to roll it out soon
Fabulous! Has there been thought given to those of us not in the UK?
We will definitely be looking into it
Hello Hayley and all fellow sewers!
My name is Terry and I live in a small village near Rye in East Sussex.
I've been sewing for 8 years now and am now learning to sew my own swimsuits - having some problems with the armholes stretching!! Oh, that swim elastic!!! 😩
I'm really looking forward to being a part of this online community as I don't have a single sewing friend to chew over sewing bee with. 😄
Hi Terry, really lovely to have you here! Ooh swimsuits is something I've yet to tackle, its definitely on my list though. What pattern are you using?
Yes, I can't wait to chat about the Sewing Bee!!
Hi Haley.
The Megan Nielsen Cottesloe. I've done one, and it is wearable, but I need to make adjustments to the bust area - I think I put the powernet in the wrong way up. 😱. Love the fact that sewing is such a learning curve. 😊
Hi Hayley and all sewers, I have been sewing for 69 years and am still constantly learning. I love looking at others' makes. I take on any new hints and tips, and I watch a lot of YouTube for inspiration. I live in a bungalow now, so I don’t have a stash of fabric anymore. Now, I just purchase fabric when I want to make something.
Hi Christine, so lovely to meet you - welcome to the fold!! Have you got a project on the go?
I will make a simple dress in lightweight grey and black jersey, all washed and ready to go. Not sure whether to make the top half a flattering cross-over or just a straight V neck with set-in three-quarter sleeves. It will take me a while, as I can’t stand doing the cutting out.
Ah I get that, the cutting out is definitely the worst bit!! Sounds like a lovely project
Hello 👋🏻 I'm Lyn and I had just joined when I had the good fortune of winning a years membership via the 'sewfruity25' challenge! Thank you Hayley and Yvette, I'm delighted to win!
I started sewing when I was around 12, my mum taught me and it was a way of keeping up with fashion to sew my own school skirts of various lengths!!
I've then had gaps over the years when life got in the way, but have been back avidly sewing since 2015.
My two grans were both in the sewing industry, one gran being a tailor and the other fitted ladies in their homes for corsets! I have her beautiful Singer sewing machine ☺️
Looking forward to meeting like-minded sewists and sharing tips and inspiration with you all. I'm based near Stratford-upon-Avon in the UK. 🇬🇧
Hi Lyn
Congratulations on the win, I've applied the discount to your account for the year!
I love the family history here, that's just lovely to have your grans singer machine too.
thank you so much Hayley!
Hi Hayley and everyone here! I’m Michelle and I live in north London, I’m originally from Ireland, Tipperary.
I started sewing in lockdown mostly masks as a lot of us. And I started my crafting journey as a paper crafter making cards, decorative boxes etc, I then wanted to try flower forming with foam and fabrics and borrowed my mothers old sewing machine, but struggled to use it I didn’t even know how to wind a bobbin or where it even went. so I bought my own cheap machine, not great but done the job.
I then stumbled into bag making, too many YouTube videos, but I tried and made a tote bag, fast forward every type of bag I decided to give dressmaking a go and that terrified me for some reason, but I’ve made a few things now that are great and now I find my space, sewing bags that can now match my outfits is the best. My daughter is expecting my 1st grandchild (grandson) in June so I’m beyond excited and have now sewn a few bits for him.
I’ve added a ft makes
Lovely makes, my favourite is the denim dungarees, so cute!
Hi Michelle, lovely to meet you and congratulations on the impending arrival of your grandson!! How exciting. Those little dungarees are adorable - what pattern did you use?
Also loving that jumpsuit in the moon print fabric
Hi Hayley and all,
I am Sandra and live in a small village at the top of the Cambridgeshire/Lincolnshire border. I am so looking forward to having nice fitting clothes.
Hi Sandra, welcome to the forums! Also hi everyone, I'm Andy, I've been helping Hayley get things down from high places since 2013 and I also do some web development stuff for her too!
Hi all, I'm Monique and live in London. So excited to be a part of Thready Set Go!
Hi Sandra and Monique, first ones to post! So happy to have you here!
Hello everyone, welcome! I'm Gemma, I've been creating makes from the boxes for 5ish years now and love how different each one is! As well as sewing I also knit, and started my own slow fashion brand Love Ginger 💕
Hi All, so excited for this. I'm Mairéad from Ireland and living in the UK.
Welcome all of you lovely sewing people! Greetings from a very cold Manchester!
Along with Gemma and Esther, I have been a regular contributor to Sew Hayley Jane for the last 5 or so years, hopegully giving you all inspiration of what you can make with your box. I love seeing how everyone interprets the box differently into the most amazing things.
I can't wait to get chatting with you all 🤩
Hello everyone!
I'm Helen and live in the Peak District. I am currently using th classic fabric from the November box to make a Christmas top....it's going very slowly! Excited to be part of this sewing community :-)
I'm Pat, (London)a relatively new subscriber and enjoying my boxes so far. Looking forward to Thready Set go!
Welcome in Mairéad and Helen, so happy to have you here!
And of course Gemma and Laura two of our lovely moderators who you'll recognise from the magazine!
Hi there! I’m Esther, and I live in rainy Manchester—well, technically Wigan, but close enough, right? 😂
I started sewing in 2018 and haven’t looked back since. There’s nothing quite like turning a flat piece of fabric into a perfectly fitting garment—it’s definitely my passion! Lately, more like the past 4 years, but who's counting, I’ve been hoping to pick up knitting, so who knows, maybe that’ll be my next adventure.
During lockdown, I had the chance to do a guest post for the SHJ box, and now I’m part of the furniture here. Looking forward to chatting with you all and sharing our sewing journeys!
Hi Everyone

Hello fellow sewing enthusiasts my name is Val, I live in Amesbury, Wiltshire, within walking distance of Stonehenge. I love all aspects of sewing knitting and crocheting.
Hello everyone.
I'm Helen and I live in Nottingham, I enjoy sewing in my spare time and also knitting and crochet. I'm looking forward to being part of this sewing community.
Hello I'm also Helen and I grew up in the Peak District, I do not know the other Helen though lol. I now live on the Sheffield Chesterfield border.
I've been sewing for 20 years and a SHJ subscriber for 6, I collect and restore vintage Singer cast iron machines and 1990s electronic PFAFF. Current count is 16 machines, average price £30, woman hours of restoration countless. The doggos part of my name is a Springer Spanial, a Sprocker-poo and a Chalkie (chihuahua x yorkie) None of them have any chill.
Hi Helen. That is amazing. My first embroidery machine was a Pfaff. Almost 25 years ago. I'm here in the States. Currently I have an antique shop and you can definitely tell what my passion is. We Currently have 3 treadles, 3 electric and many sewing related items, like buttons and ribbon.

Hello eveyone. I am Diana from Colorado, USA. I am so excited to be here. I am ready to take sewing to the next level.
Ciao! I'm Jo from the Uk but living in Italy for last 17 years. Just waiting for the delivery of my first bos and have been sewing on and off for the last 40 odd (and then some) years and still learning. 😉
Hi, I'm Sue and I live in France. I'm so glad that you have started this initiative Hayley because I've lost my sew-jo. I used to sew a lot thirty odd years ago and started again 6 years ago but over the past few months I've lost my motivation. I thought that your new sewing school would help me get going again. Look forward to chatting with lots of new people x
