Ann Tilley- Magic Pants

Hi! I’m On my phone and couldn’t find a search button to see if this pattern has been discussed before.

Any feedback on these pants, especially for someone that prefers mid rise pants. And low rise over high rise?

Any thoughts on the pants, pattern, construction, supplies, etc would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

I have heard of these, and there has been some discussion before but as yet I don't recall anyone who has made them! I think they look fantastic, I'm so keen to try them out.

However they are definitely on the high rise side so if you prefer low-rise I'm not sure

I know!!! But i can’t seem to shake wanting to try them. I first heard of them over a year ago and was fascinated from style and construction but the. Said never mind because of high waist but they keep creeping back into my mind so i feel like i must just go ahead and give them a try.

Now I want to try them as well! 🤭. I'm on a health kick at the moment, could be useful for fluctuating sizes

If you look for Kate , Ripper Seams on YouTube, she made a video about them. Might help maybe?

I'd be really keen to hear how you get on, like you I'm drawn to the pattern but prefer lower rise

I made them last summer, there are a lot of pattern pieces and steps but I followed Ann Tilley's tutorial on You Tube and that really helped. On me they are a mid rise, but I do have a high waist. Once they are made they are a really easy to wear pair of trousers.

I've just finished making the Magic Pants. I have done a step-by-step of the construction on my YouTube channel, Diane in Stitches, but the designer also has a sewalong video on her channel.

The written instructions are very good, and I just worked through those along with the video sewalong. It's a very interesting construction, and I love that the waist can be adapted to fit with the elastic and hidden panel, but it's not bulky.

I thought I'd read somewhere that they came out big, so I did a silly thing and sized down, although I was partially in both sizes for the waist size range, but I thought the hip ease looked too big on the Small so I made the Xtra Small and I do have a little bit of a struggle to get them on! But once they are on they are fine.

Thank you. This is the stretch panel behind the flap, just from some spare ribbing I had. So comfortable.

These have been on my “wishlist” for over a year too! I love the style-just made the Merchant & Mills Quinn trousers twice which I think have a similar style but I’d love the added versatility of a comfort panel! I’ll keep an eye out if anyone else makes-the one’s posted here are gorgeous and make me want to jump on the bandwagon!
